Historian Hannibal Johnson will interview Tim Long and Jerome Johnson about their original musical theater work titled "A Song of Greenwood"
Greenwood Rising presents a conversation between Hannibal Johnson, Tim Long, and Jerome Johnson, the creators of the original musical theatre work "A Song of Greenwood."
Tim Long and Jerome Johnson, aka LoJoWERKz , are a Tulsa-based musical playwright team who, after eight formative years building a reputation in the regional market, burst onto the National scene in 2004 when their cutting-edge original musical theatre work piqued the interest of Broadway luminary Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, etc.) Over the decades, the work of the Harold Arlen Award winning playwright/composer team has garnered the support of numerous top nationally known arts organizations.
Plans were well underway to bring "A Song of Greenwood" back to audiences for the Centennial commemoration of the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921 when the pandemic brought all theatrical productions to a halt.
Long and Johnson have since decided to expand the stage musical into a multi-episode series for streaming platforms. With 30 years of research and development, "A Song of Greenwood" has grown into a work rich with intriguing characters and storylines, high energy dance numbers and soul-stirring music.
