ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS - HEATHER NASH
Heather N. Nash is Executive Director and co-founder of the Deep Greenwood Foundation. A lifelong Tulsa resident and descendant of 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre survivor Ruth Dean Nash, she has dedicated her career to advancing equity, education, and economic opportunity within historically underserved communities. With 28 years of nonprofit programming experience and more than two decades in political campaigning, Nash works to preserve Greenwood's legacy while creating pathways for future generations through advocacy, genealogy, education, and community development.
Nash led the development of a certification program in partnership with the Greenwood Cultural Center to help descendants of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre document and trace family records. She is also the author of the Deep Greenwood Foundation's restitution plan presented to the City of Tulsa in 2025. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with organizations including the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Oklahoma State University, and Tulsa Public Schools to expand access to educational resources and opportunities. Prior to her current role, Nash was recognized as the nation's leading HIV/AIDS educator for the American Red Cross and has extensive experience developing community-focused programs and initiatives.
DEEP GREENWOOD FOUNDATION
Deep Greenwood Foundation is a Tulsa-based nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing educational equity, economic empowerment, and community restoration in honor of Greenwood's historic legacy. Through programs focused on practical literacy, mathematics, genealogy, and workforce development, the foundation works to address generational disparities and expand opportunities for Black families and communities.
The organization views education as a form of restitution and invests in initiatives designed to close knowledge and wealth gaps while preserving the history of Black Wall Street. Through strategic partnerships with educational institutions, faith-based organizations, community groups, and civic leaders, Deep Greenwood Foundation develops programs that connect historical understanding with measurable community impact.
